Ram Akella

Ram Akella is Managing Partner of Phoenix Capital Partners, an investment and merchant banking boutique that he founded in 1998. He also serves as the Managing Partner of Phoenix Technology Ventures, an early stage venture fund. He served as Chairman & CEO of Oriundus Asset Management Co., a renewable energy private equity fund that invested in wind and biomass assets. Mr. Akella also served as Managing Partner of Centro Holdings, LLC, an investment company that acquired, amongst others, Centrosolar America Inc., a German solar photovoltaic module manufacturer where he served as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer overseeing strategy, restructuring and company growth. Prior thereto has served as President and Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the board of directors of Phoenix India Acquisition Corp. a public special purpose acquisition company. Prior thereto, Mr. Akella was Managing Director of Dover Finance Group, Ltd., a corporate finance boutique specializing in structured finance for media, entertainment and communications companies. Early in his career, Mr. Akella served in varying direct investment capacities at family offices. He was a former advisor to Cornell University’s BR Ventures and a former member of Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management’s Advisory Council. Mr. Akella holds an M.B.A. with Distinction from Cornell University.
